About

FAST Youth was developed to provide youth athletes with elite level exercise to improve Flexibility, Agility, Strength, Training.  Our goal at FAST Youth is to develop athletes in a closely supervised environment by highly skilled trainers to promote athletic performance and prevent injury.  Workouts are performed privately, or in small groups with emphasis on correct form and proper body mechanics.

What separates FAST Youth from the rest?

Workouts are designed and supervised by a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  Close supervision allows for immediate feedback to the athlete and emphasis is made on correct form.  Programs are designed specifically for the athlete so maximum performance enhancement can be achieved for the athlete’s specific sport and goal.  Having an in-depth understanding of human anatomy and physiology as well as an understanding of sports related injuries allows for specific exercises to be assigned to the athlete to mitigate sports related injuries while improving sport performance.

FAST Youth Training Staff:

Jonathan Newman

Jonathan Newman, PT, DPT, the founder and Doctor of Physical Therapy behind FAST Youth, was a youth athlete, having played a variety of sports – most successfully basketball.  From a young age, he realized that being stronger and more agile than his competition gave him a competitive advantage.  He spent a tremendous amount of time working out and would have greatly benefitted from proper guidance.  He followed his passion for exercise and sports, and fueled that into a career, earning a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton.  During his studies he utilized his knowledge of exercise, and new knowledge in Kinesiology to start a traveling exercise training business which he continued for many years.  In 2004, having achieved his degree in Kinesiology, he continued his quest to improve and gain knowledge of the human body and exercise and began working towards his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.  It was at Chapman University in Orange, CA where he graduated having earned a Doctorate of Physical Therapy (DPT) in 2007.  He has spent the last thirteen years working extensively with youth athletes, having developed FAST Youth to help athletes train to promote performance, prevent injury, and rehabilitate after injury.

 Darius Kelly

Darius Kelly, the founder of FAST Youth Sports Training/Lessons, has built a passion for sports, and helping others succeed throughout his life.  It started when he was a youth playing sports ranging from baseball, football, and soccer.  This transitioned into High School where he continued his athletic career and spent three years taking courses on weight training to improve his physical fitness and develop a greater understanding of the human body.

Darius has continued this passion into his adult life and has been training or managing youth sports for over nine years.  Professionally, Darius is a Senior Engineer and is able to  apply over 20 years of experience into every aspect of FAST Youth.  He is able to understand how the human body moves, and what is needed to optimize the transfer of energy though the kinetic chain to achieve high level sport performance.  As FAST Youth continues to develop, Darius will be looking to technology, which will aid in the development of all the youth athletes that train at FAST Youth for fitness and sport specific activities.
